Senator Sarah Keyeski (D-Lodi) and the Wisconsin State Senate are calling on local high school juniors and seniors to apply for the upcoming Senate Scholar Program, an intensive week-long educational experience hosted in Madison. Designed to challenge some of the state's top students, the program selects one participant from each of Wisconsin’s 33 Senate Districts to gain hands-on experience with state government and the legislative process.

The program features an advanced government curriculum combining classroom instruction, roundtable discussions, and practical simulations. During the first half of the week, students learn directly from experts about research, constituent relations, and bill drafting. They also participate in discussions with legislative staff, media representatives, and lobbyists to explore all facets of policymaking.

In the second half of the week, participants put their training to work by staffing the Senate floor during a live legislative session. Working as a cohort, the scholars draft bills, form mock committees, elect leadership, and host a formal committee hearing featuring public testimony on Friday.

To ensure a safe and engaging experience, participants reside at the Concourse Hotel in downtown Madison with full-time supervision from the program director, complete with organized evening activities. Senator Keyeski expressed enthusiasm for local involvement, encouraging area schools and students to take advantage of this unique opportunity to represent Senate District 14.

Applications must be submitted by November 6, 2026. Interested students need to complete a "Request for Sponsorship" form for their Senator.
